The year started off with a small group going to Loughborough Town Hall to see the Pantomime 'Cinderella'. The trip was voted a success and a very enjoyable time was had by those who attended.
Our event in February was a repeat of the very successful Pudding Tasting Evening which was held in October 2015. 9 ladies brought a great variety of puddings which were judged on appearance and taste.
8 ladies enjoyed a trip out to Gates Nurseries in Oakham on Saturday 1st April. After a great lunch we all explored what was on offer in the gift shop and nurseries and came away with lots of goodies.
A party of 11 enjoyed lunch at Butler Henderson café at Quorn Station on Thursday 11th May before making our way to Long Close Gardens. The afternoon was completed by having a refreshing ‘cuppa’ with Derrick and Eileen Tickner. A donation was given to Eileen for South American charity for children.
On Saturday 17th June we had a very enjoyable walk in Bradgate, starting from the Cropston end, to the visitor centre and the Nature Show being held near there. Several walked further but as it was so hot we turned back for refreshments and a slower amble back to the car park.
Another walk was held on Thursday 3rd August as we visited the Heather Scarecrow Festival. We walked several miles but didn't manage the whole route finishing up with lunch in a local restaurant.
A boat trip on Symphony with the Peter Le Marchant Trust took place on 19th August and took us from Loughborough to Mountsorrel and back with a great lunch at the Waterside Inn. The weather was sunny and the whole day was so relaxing.
It was a very wet day when we set off for Staunton Harold on Thursday 21st September but we still had a great time in thecafé and a good look the gifts and plants.
30 attended the Body Shop Demonstration held on Thursday 12 October, a repeat of our successful evening in 2016. Friends from other churches met with us and made this a great evening with 2 lucky ladies having a makeover and a facial.
10 ladies met for a Craft Evening on Thursday 9th November where we made lavender bags, owl brooches and Christmas trees from pine cones. There was also a display of goods and catalogues from the Leprosy Mission for people to buy on the night or to place an order. We also enjoyed a cake as we celebrated the 3rd birthday of Women Together
2017 ended with the Christmas Dinner and Secret Santa held at The Jolly Farmers on Friday 8th December. It was very much enjoyed by the 12 ladies who attended.
