When to arrive:
If it's your first visit then it's probably best to turn up around 10.30am. If you are driving then you'll be pleased to hear that there is some free parking in the church car park. For directions to reach us please see the Find Us page. You'll be greeted on the door by one of our welcoming team who will give you some information about the church and notices of forthcoming events.
What to wear:
This is easy. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We are an informal church and accept people as they are. There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you're not. Whether you come as a suited businessman or a freaked-out punk that is fine with us.
What to expect:
For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. To help avoid any worries here's a quick summary of what you can expect at Charnwood Road Baptist Church. First of all we aren't super-spiritual beings, we all had a 'first day' at church, you'll find we are a friendly bunch, if you don't understand something please simply ask. We start our services at 10.45am and 6.00pm with notices on the screen before the service keeping us informed of diary dates etc.
Our worship time consists of a mix of modern songs with some older hymns (with guitars, keyboards and drums) and the words are projected onto a screen using SongPro. Everyone participates in the worship but about half way through the Sunday Club go to their own groups, we also run a creche for the little ones. Our Pastor then ministers to us from the Bible. We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday evening and third Sunday morning of the month unless advised otherwise. We finish our meeting around midday. Tea/coffee and biscuits (sometimes cake) are served every week after morning services and fortnightly after evening services (please see weekly notices).
Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for many years that you should be encouraged and inspired by the services. We hope that everyone will draw closer to God.
What we believe:
We are a Christian church and believe that all can have relationship with God. We believe this relationship with God is possible because of Jesus (God's only son) who invites us to follow him. We have friendly relationships with other local churches from both traditional and modern backgrounds and are involved with CTIS (Churches Together in Shepshed). If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith then please come along on a Sunday or contact the church office (01509 600457) to ask for a free booklet.
Is it just Sundays?
Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. We're not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we desire to make a positive difference in everything we do. To further encourage us on Tuesdays we have 2 Bible Study house groups (groups of maybe 10-12 people meeting in someone's house) plus an Afternoon Bible Study held at CRBC. Small groups are a great way to get to know others in the church. Find out more here
For those with disabilities:
We aim to be an all-inclusive church. If you wish to discuss specific needs please contact the church office. Our premises are accessible for those with disabilities with both the kitchen and toilets accessible. We do have a loop for the hearing impaired and in 2015 the installation of a lift to our upper hall was completed.
