At 4.00pm on Saturday 15 October 2016 the congregation of CRBC and many visitors gathered together
in the church for Howard and Hilary's Retirement Celebration.
We sang a few songs and saw an audio visual presentation, prepared by Brian Walbey, of
'The Ketton Years 2004 to 2016', which showed the many things that we shared with Howard and Hilary
over the last 12 great years.
Our 3 visiting speakers, EMBA Regional Team Leader Mark Clay, Vice President Dianne Tidball and BUGB President Rupert lazar, (shown above with Howard & Hilary) all related their interesting
experiences of knowing and working with Howard and Hilary.
Alan Todhunter, one of our congregation, then gave a very entertaining speech about 'Team Ketton'
which evoked much laughter and many fond memories and led into a presentation of several retirement gifts to Howard and Hilary from the church and fellowship made by Emma and Pam. These included a cheque from the church fellowship, a photo book, a rose bush and garden vouchers to Hilary, a Mont Blanc fountain pen for Howard and a collage made by the Banner Group of several of the activities in the church.
After the service we all moved to our
upper hall which over the last few years has been gradually refurbished with the help of several of our congregation who had the necessary skills to do the work involved.
Today Howard re-dedicated the hall in memory of Pete Bassford, a much loved member of our congregation who sadly died very suddenly earlier this year.
Following the Grace a sumptuous spread awaited us completed by the lovely cake baked by Alison and which had all the books of the Bible iced around the outside.
Our Sunday Morning Service was lead by Howard and Rev Dianne Tidball gave the sermon based on
Isaiah 30: 15-26 entitled 'Retirement, Returning, Rest and Restoration'. The Sunday Club also collectively presented Hilary with a hand made card from all the children. In the evening Howard lead the service and preached based on John 14: 1-7 'Jesus Comforts His Disciples'.
To hear extracts from the service on Saturday and the 2 services on Sunday 16 October
Thank you Howard and Hilary for all you have done for us and with us in 12 great years,
from everybody at CRBC
You will be greatly missed!!
