The Men's Breakfast recently became part of the Men's Group.
On Thursday 28th August, the Men's Group enjoyed an evening aboard a working boat 'The Fly'
on the River Soar at Barrow. The evening ended with a social time at 'The Navigation'.
Previous events included a Skittles Evening in Hathern, walking in Dovedale,
Ten Pin Bowling in Leicester, DVD evenings and a breakfast at St Joseph's tearooms.
On Saturday 21st March a small group of men from the Fellowship, and some friends, drove over to Donington Park to have a look round the Grand Prix Collection of Formula 1 racing cars in the museum there.
Before reaching the cars the first thing they saw when entering the museum was some of the exhibits from the Wheatcroft Collection comprising a number of WW2 tanks, jeeps, personnel carriers and very rare motorcycles. In all the collection consists of some 150 items in various states of repair.
The Donington Grand Prix Collection itself is the largest showcase of Grand Prix racing cars in the world. Four halls, with over 130 exhibits, illustrate the history of motorsport from the turn of the 20th Century, where visitors can get close to the cars driven by such famous names as Nuvolari, Mansell, Prost, Moss, Fangio and Stewart. The collection houses the largest collection of McLaren and Williams racing cars in the world (outside of their respective factories), and the only complete collection of Vanwalls. In addition they saw cars from the world of rallying and other branches of motorsport and many of the exhibits were the subject of much discussion, particularly among those not overly familiar with motor racing.
The visit ended with some time in the shop and some refreshments in the excellent cafeteria.
